OISL uses the manufactured Sponge iron in the iron and steel industry as a raw material.

Steel Billets

Steel billets are referred to semi-finished products, which are used for the production of TMT Bars, after processing.

The billet is obtained after melting and casting the sponge iron in a regulated furnace.

TMT Bars

TMT Bar (Thermo Mechanically Treated bars) is manufactured at Ratanpur, Kandra, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, using the Steel Billets manufactured by OISL.

The manufacturing process of TMT Bar involves series of processes like rolling, water quenching, heat treatment, cooling at various stages of manufacturing.

Power

OISL has set up Captive Power Plant of 44 Megawatts at Ratanpur, Kandra, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand to generate power through Waste Heat Recovery Boiler (WHRB).
